ABOUT US:

Our Philosophy

Our centre follows the Kids ELC philosophy. We  that learning is a lifelong experience and embrace the diverse ways in which children express themselves. With a focus on inclusivity and engagement, we aim to create an environment where all children can reach their full potential.

Building positive and trusting relationships with both children and families is a fundamental part of who we are. Children are confident and capable learners, and we embrace the family as their first teacher.

What We Offer

Our service provides all meals, including breakfast club. Our centre cook prepares all meals fresh onsite daily, following Nutrition Australia guidelines. We also provide all nappies, wipes, and sunscreen.

Our centre operates a community bus service and offers a before-school program for school-age children. The Queensland Government is introducing Free Kindy! Starting from January 1, 2024, Queensland children can attend a government-approved kindergarten program for 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, at no cost!

Unleash your child’s potential in our Reggio Emilia-inspired Kindergarten program! Through play and inquiry, we empower our children to express themselves, explore their passions, and build a lifelong love for learning. Our unique approach nurtures creativity and critical thinking. Community Involvement

At Charters Towers we pride ourselves on our community connections. Our children actively participate in the community through various initiatives.

We have a community garden that provides fresh produce accessible to the community. Additionally, we have a street library to promote literacy and reading. We also have a community pantry which offers a range of ingredients for families to access if they need to.

We also have a sustainability garden where children learn to care for the environment. Here the children can learn and practice composting, gardening, recycling and tending to our worm farms.

Outdoor Environment

Our centre boasts a natural and open outdoor environment with many real elements. This offers children the opportunity to connect with natural materials and their environment.

Jaylene Davis

Jaylene Davis

I have five amazing and unique children who have taught me that every child travels their own unique learning journey and develops at their own pace. I am excited to share my passion, dedication and knowledge of early childhood education and care that advocates for the rights of children, while leading our Reggio Emilia inspired team of educators. I believe in creating a sense of belonging through fostering warm, welcoming, inviting and nurturing environments where educators are in tune to the needs of all children, guiding programs that utilise the strengths, knowledge and interests of both children and educators. This allows for a journey of growth and self-discovery to unfold while developing new found knowledge and tools that allow children and educators to become the best version of themselves.

Children are my passion, and leading a team of educators who put children at the forefront of everything they do to achieve quality education and outstanding learning outcomes is something I continuously aspire towards

Educational Leader

Kelli Thomas

Kelli Thomas

Kelli has been at Charters Towers Kids ELC since 2012 when she started doing work experience for her certificate 3. She now holds an Advanced Diploma of Community Management Sector. Kelli believes that all children should feel safe and comfortable whilst they are in her care. She believes that all children should feel supported, confident and excited to enter our environment each and every day, with a sense of belongingness to their environment. Kelli believes that each and every child that enters our service deserves the opportunity to be provided with high quality early education and care through collaboration with families, the community and fellow educators of the centre.
Kelli sees children as individuals and confident and capable learners. It is her goal as the Pedagogista to support educators to set up meaningful environments and experiences that allow children to develop at their own pace and learn and extend on their current interests and knowledge. It is her role to ensure that all children are treated with respect and the rights of the child are upheld in all day to day practices of the centre. She aims to guide and support all educators to ensure that every child is able to reach their full potential and gain the necessary skills they require. Kelli wishes to create and maintain meaningful relationships with all families and children, building this relationship on mutual respect and trust to foster collaborative partnerships.
