our learning curriculum

The Kids ELC Curriculum

We offer an innovative play and interest-based curriculum, designed and delivered by qualified early childhood teachers and educators, to support children in developing the skills necessary for lifelong learning.

Inspired by a range of respected early childhood learning frameworks including the Reggio Emilia approach, we actively encourage collaborative learning with a focus on each child’s knowledge, abilities, culture, and strengths. Our educators work closely with the children, observing, listening, and documenting their wonderings and ideas while planning for the possibilities of learning.

Creating safe spaces for learning

We believe children learn best in safe and nurturing environments, which is why we prioritise responsive relationships between educators, children, peers, and families. When children feel safe and supported, they can focus their efforts on developing confidence, independence, and a strong sense of emotional and physical wellbeing.

At Kids ELC, our early childhood curriculum is based around five key pillars, including:

The power of play
Wellbeing and connection
Sustainable futures
Creating communities that inspire
Following your child's learning journey
“We believe children have rights- a right to communicate, a right to be heard, a right to participate, a right to imagine, and a right to learn.”

Inspired by Reggio Emilia

Our educational approach incorporates elements from the Reggio Emilia philiosophy, which promotes an interest-led, inquiry based approach to learning.

Combined with evidence-based early learning practices, our curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to incorporate innovative play and inquiry pedagogies blended with the Reggio Emilia principles of respect, responsibility and community. This allows us to provide your child with quality education and care.

Get to know our educational programs

Beyond the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood learning, we’ve incorporated key aspects of several educational programs to deliver a well-rounded approach to early childhood education.
Free Kindergarten Approved ProgramQueensland Government

Queensland Government approved and funded Kindergarten program

We pride ourselves on creating learning environments and playscapes that invite curiosity, wonder, and a lifelong love of learning. Early literacy and numeracy skills are meaningfully woven into our daily curriculum, providing a rich foundation for learning.

Throughout your child’s Kindergarten year, our Kids ELC educators are on hand to support your child to:

  • Take part in rich inquiry and play-based learning,
  • Expand their physical abilities,
  • Build their confidence, and
  • Enhance their social skills.

As part of our Kindergarten program, we’ll help them to develop confidence in a range of areas, ensuring a smooth transition into their first year of school.

After completing their Kindergarten year at Kids ELC, your child will be ready to take the next step in their education as they enter Prep. Our educators will complete a Transition Statement detailing your child’s achievements and progress to share with your child’s new school.

At the end of the Kindergarten year, we invite our families to celebrate your child’s learning journey and transition to school with our Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony. This milestone marks the end of your child’s early learning journey as they transition to the next phase of their schooling.

Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG)

Every Kids ELC offers a high-quality Kindergarten program that’s designed and delivered by qualified early childhood teachers. More specifically, our Kindergarten program draws from the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG). Together, these guidelines ensure that children are equipped with the skills necessary for a successful transition to school.

Australian Government Ella Program

In addition, our centres also offer the Australian Government Ella Program or language immersion in everyday contexts. ELLA is a proven method of language discovery for Kindergarten children, supporting the development of their social, thinking, and digital skills. Not to mention, this program also comes with the added bonus of cultural competency and the chance to learn a new language.

Follow your child's learning journey at Kids ELC

At Kids ELC, we believe that families are the primary source of knowledge. Together with our early childhood educators and your child, a holistic approach to education and learning can be achieved. But to support this integrated method, it’s essential to take an active role in your child’s learning journey.

At Kids ELC, we encourage parents and families to engage in this journey through conversations, sharing stories, studio projects, learning journal viewing evenings, summative assessments, and viewing the displays of learning in their studio environment. Our educators also share regular updates via the Storypark app, allowing you to catch a glimpse of your child’s day at their Kids ELC.
